Where Have all the Flowers Gone?

My sister and I got into a conversation recently of the concerts we had gone to as young adults. Most of my concert going was during college and in the years immediately after wards, but I was surprised at how many of the big music makers of my generation I had seen live. Peter, Paul and Mary were merely one of the groups that I had the opportunity to see.

Mary Travers has died so there is no longer a Peter, Paul and Mary. I think the world is a bit lessor today. I know my world seems sadder.

Apart from the fact that we have lost yet another maker of a generation, what were you doing posting at 3.45am?? Couldn't sleep?

My concerts include Tavares, Johnny Mathis, Roy Orbison, Harry Belafonte, Status Quo, Phil Collins, Paul Simon, Tony Bennett, Lena Horne, Chuck Berry, Anne Murray and a whole host of others. Probably because I was working in the business. I could have sold those back stage passes for millions..........

I crashed at 7:30 and woke up early because of coughing from this cold.

I say the original Simon and Garfunkel, Donovan, Limelighters, New Christi Minstrels, Linda Ronstadt, Kingston Trio, Gordon Lighfoot, Ray Charles, Jim Croce. To name a few.

We really have a list between us. I remember watching a very 'out of it' Natalie Cole on stage but then again a good many of the bands I saw and promoted were 'out of it'!
Saw Eartha Kitt in Bermuda and she was amazing.
George Burns was hilarious when he appeared with Theresa Brewer (is she still alive?) and Peter Nero but that was a dinner show.
I put Victor Borge into the Dorchester in London. Ah...happy days!

Had to laugh about Teresa Brewer. She was Dad's favorite so we bought him a tape of hers (reel to reel those days) and listening to her without the visual he discovered she could not sing.

I too saw Victor Borge and Neil Diamond, and the All White Band and David Bowie. And my sister had to remind me I saw The Beetles when they were at Red Rocks outside Denver.
